Canadian Rockies and Mt. Assiniboine in Autumn

September 15 - 23, 2012

It is difficult to describe the scenic beauty of the Canadian Rockies. The lofty peaks are jagged, carved by glaciers, and always snow-covered. The lakes are colored unbelievable shades of blue and green due to suspended rock flour brought by the glacial streams that feed them. Many of the great glaciers are visible from the highway. Wildlife abounds in this mountain paradise.

This Workshop will explore Banff, Jasper, and Yoho National Parks as well as Mt. Robson and Mt. Assiniboine Provincial Parks. Starting in Banff National Park, we will photograph in such world-renowned locations as Mt. Rundle, Moraine Lake, and Lake Louise. In Yoho National Park, we will visit beautiful Emerald Lake and Takakkaw Falls, one of the highest in the world.

We will also visit Mt. Robson Provincial Park which boasts the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. The Banff-Jasper Highway is one of the great scenic highways in the world.

The high point of the Workshop will be two days at a remote lodge in Mt. Assiniboine Provincial Park. Mt. Assiniboine, known as the Matterhorn of Canada, is the highest peak in the southern Canadian Rockies. No roads reach this pristine alpine area. We will travel by helicopter to and from Mt. Assiniboine. At Mt. Assiniboine Lodge, gourmet meals are served family style and included in the price of the Workshop.
Autumn is arguably the best time of year to photograph the Canadian Rockies. The brilliant colors of the aspen and larch, as well as fresh snow on the peaks, add additional interest to the scenic beauty of the mountains. The number of visitors is less than in the summertime, and wildlife activity is at its peak. This Workshop is a full nine days so that we can have enough time to visit all of these outstanding locations. We hope that you will take this opportunity to join us for a Workshop in one of the most beautiful landscapes anywhere.
