Canadian Rockies and Mt. Assiniboine in Autumn
September 13 - 21, 2008
It is difficult to describe the scenic beauty of the Canadian Rockies. The lofty peaks
are jagged, carved by glaciers, and always snow-covered. The lakes are colored unbelievable
shades of blue and green due to suspended rock flour brought by the glacial streams that
feed them. Many of the great glaciers are visible from the highway. Wildlife abounds in
this mountain paradise.
This Workshop will explore Banff, Jasper, and Yoho National Parks as well as
Mt. Robson and Mt. Assiniboine Provincial Parks. Starting in Banff National Park,
we will photograph in such world-renowned locations as Mt. Rundle, Moraine Lake,
and Lake Louise. In Yoho National Park, we will visit beautiful Emerald Lake and Takakkaw Falls,
one of the highest in the world.
North of Lake Louise, our Workshop will follow the Banff-Jasper Highway, one of the great
scenic roadways in the world. A panorama of rugged mountain ranges parallels the road. You
will marvel at the beauty of Bow Lake, Peyto Lake and Waterfowl Lake. The highway passes
within a mile of the Athabasca Glacier – a tongue of the great Columbia Icefields.
North of the Icefields, we will photograph Athabasca Falls and Mt. Edith Cavell on our
way to Jasper and take a sidetrip to Mt. Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.
