Arizona Desert
March 12 - 18, 2011
The Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona is a stark landscape of barren
volcanic mountain ranges, steep canyons, and very little water. However, a
number of hardy desert plants, animals, and birds are able to survive these
harsh conditions.
The giant saguaro cactus, the rare organ pipe cactus, and many smaller
varieties of cactus are found here. After a wet winter, a carpet of
wildflowers bursts forth to add color to the desert landscapes. The wildflowers
include Arizona poppies, brittlebush, lupine, owl clover, and many others.
Our field sessions will be in Saguaro National Park, Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument,
and the mountains between Tucson and Globe, east of Phoenix.
Plan to spend a rewarding week with us in a truly unique environment that provides many
excellent photographic possibilities.
This Workshop includes all lodging, transportation from Tucson, and expert photographic
instruction in the field and in the classroom. A continental breakfast will be provided each morning. Participants
pay for all other meals.
