GENERAL INFORMATION

Type of Travel: Most of our travel on Workshops will be done in vans or small busses, unless specified in the Workshop Itinerary.

Deposits and Payments: To register for a Workshop, please send a deposit of $300 for US Workshops and $2,000 for the Falkland Islands Workshop. Full payment for the Workshop in US Dollars is due 90 DAYS prior to the start of domestic Workshops.

Workshop Fees: Workshop fees quoted on this website include accommodations based upon double occupancy, transportation during the Workshop beginning and ending at the Origination Point, and the guide service and instruction of the Workshop Leaders. On most Workshops, a continental breakfast will be provided in the mornings, but participants will need to pay for ALL OTHER MEALS (except in the Falkland Islands). Workshop fees do not include airfare or other means of transportation to the Workshop origination point, telephone calls, or items of a personal nature. All fees are based on rates in effect on June 1, 2010 and may be adjusted if costs rise significantly.
If you desire a separate room, the cost (when single rooms are available) is indicated in this brochure and on each individual Workshop Itinerary. If you prefer to provide your own accommodations, i.e., a camper, a tent, or your own home if the Workshop is nearby, the cost of lodging will be deducted from the Workshop price. If you are accompanied by a non-photographing companion who does not ride with the group on field sessions, the only extra charge will be the single supplement fee for the lodging.
If you take more than one Workshop with Dramatic Light during a calendar year, you will receive a $100 discount on the second and all subsequent Workshops that calendar year.
If you book a Dramatic Light Workshop and send your deposit six months or more in advance, you will receive a $50 discount on that Workshop.
If, due to your recommendation, a new client joins a Workshop, you will receive a $50 discount on your next Dramatic Light Workshop.

SMOKING:  Workshop participants are not allowed to smoke in or near vehicles, during instructional sessions, during group meals, or at other times when in close quarters with other group participants.

WORKSHOP DATES:  Workshop dates are determined at least twelve months in advance to maximize nature photography opportunities. Consequently, changes in dates may have to be made for unforeseen occurrences such as changes in airline schedules. We will do everything possible to insure that all Workshops will take place on the dates listed. If changes must be made, you will be notified well in advance and be given the option to cancel without penalty.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Refunds are made according to the following schedule: For U.S. Workshops, if cancellation is made more than 120 days before the Workshop date, the deposit less $50 will be refunded. If cancellation is made between 60 and 120 days before the Workshop date, the deposit is not refundable, but any payments made covering the balance of the trip will be refunded. If cancellation is made fewer that 60 days before the Workshop date, we will refund those separable Workshop costs that can be recovered from our suppliers. We cannot refund inseparable costs such as those for rental transportation or other fixed costs. In most cases, the refundable portion will be less than 50% of the Workshop costs and often less than 25% of the Workshop costs. For the Falkland Islands Workshop, deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE due to the need for extensive advance planning.

LUGGAGE: PLEASE BRING ONLY ONE MEDIUM-SIZED SUITCASE OR BAG, NOT TO EXCEED 50 LBS. Camera gear should be of a size that can be carried with you in the van without inconvenience to others.

COMMENTS FROM PREVIOUS WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS

"I'll not comment on the obvious, your artistry as a photographer. But I wonder if people understand how good a teacher you are. I have met many good photographers, but very few good teachers. You deliver early or late - in good or bad weather. Your sense of commitment discipline and hard work is rare. I also admire Bonnie for her class and style."  Rafael Riquelme, Los Gatos, CA

"Our Workshop experience was simply great. I learned the advantages of bracketing, and the use of the polarizer and enhancer together. Thank you so much for freeing me from the constraint of only shooting on cloudy days or within one hour of sunrise or sunset."  Mike Emptage, Durham, NC

"I want to tell you how delighted I was to be a part of your recent Workshop. In addition to being at the right place at the right time of day for perfect lighting, I came away feeling that I had learned something very useful about photography, not to mention geology. When my processed slides were returned, the value of the week with you was proved. Your enthusiasm about photography is very infectious and I suspect this translates into good pictures for everyone who joins you."  Dr. Bob Ulberg Roslyn, NY

"It amazes me that your trips continue to excite and challenge me no matter how many I go on. Each one is different in scope and photographically stimulating. I appreciate your expert help and guidance which is always topnotch."  Doris Friedman, Teaneck, NJ

"I want to thank you for the incredible workshop last week in Yellowstone and the Tetons. I learned a great deal and the workshop more than exceeded my expectations. You not only know how to take awesome photographs, but know how to conduct a marvelous workshop. The how, where, and when that your extensive background brought to the workshop was very evident and most helpful. I have attended a lot of workshops as a teacher and many of them are, for the most part, worthless. Yours was conducted professionally, yet in a relaxed, non-intimidating atmosphere. I would love to go on more of your workshops. I am convinced that, of the many workshops available that I researched, I made the best possible choice to attend yours."  Leigh Gunnell, Sandy, UT

"I wanted to thank you for the Workshop in Moab. I've been paying much more attention to composition after seeing your work and seeing your setups in the field. The slide shows were as inspiring as they were informative. You did a great job keeping things moving and taking advantage of lighting opportunities as they were presented, and keeping the group on task."  Harry Lichtman, Newmarket, NH

"My photo week with you was wonderful. I've been on a lot of photography trips, but never one that was run as well as yours. Your knowledge of the places was amazing. The motels you chose were more than adequate, and I presume the best possible value for the money. I loved the fact that meals were not included and that we could choose what and where to eat and drink without imposing on others in any way. I hope to join you again in the future."  Myra Lesser, Great Neck, NY

"Thanks for a great experience. The whole trip was exactly as promised. Even the diversity of people was fun. I think the main thing I learned was to slow down and really think about what I was looking for - light, composition, etc."  Ed Culver, Lewisburg, PA

"Another great Workshop! Monument Valley was fine with many great shots, but the slot canyons were outstanding. Beyond what I even hoped for. I think I have now started to grasp what you have been teaching - simplicity and balance plus much more."  Ed Culver, Lewisburg, PA 4/05

"The Workshop provided exactly what I wanted: an introduction to and time on a very beautiful seacoast I had never seen before, and some great scenic opportunities, solid basic instruction in landscape photography covering all the essentials, a particularly useful critique of some of my slides, a really great group of people to travel with, and lots of fun & challenges. While the weather was not at its most cooperative, you and Bonnie made everything else turn out just great."  Nancy Borgeson, Palo Alto, CA.
